Anime has been very popular, especially in the United States, since the 1990s. It is difficult to find a child nowadays who hasn’t seen at least one dubbed into English. While many shows are exclusively aimed at children and adults, there are plenty of shows and movies that are safe for children to watch, as well. We listed some of the best anime series that kids can watch.
Pokémon
Debuting in 1996, Pokémon is the highest-grossing franchise of all time. The animated series based on the video games by Nintendo has been around for decades. Pokemon began as a Japan-only venture but soon became wildly popular all over the world, with more than 300 million sets of trading cards being created in just five years! It’s no wonder why kids can’t get enough – these creatures are so cute and cuddly.
My Hero Academia
One of the most popular anime in recent years, My Hero Academia has captured audiences’ attention in a world where everybody is born with a superpower called a “quirk,” that is, except for the main character, Deku. That, however, does not stop him from aspiring to his lifelong dream of becoming a superhero just like his idol, All Might. With action scenes that are intense but not overpowering for young kids and even adults alike it’s no wonder why this show is such a big hit!
Pretty Cure
Often shortened to PreCure, the metaseries have been going strong in Japan since 2004. Only 3 of its series have been dubbed into English. When Saban dubbed Smile PreCure and Doki Doki PreCure the names of the series were changed to Glitter Force and Glitter Force Doki Doki, respectively. The dub of the original series did keep its name, however. If you have seen PreCure, you might notice that it is very similar to Sailor Moon in some regards. This is because shows were made by Toei Animation, sharing some of the same writers, animators, and voice actors.
Hamtaro
If you were a child in the early to mid-2000s, then you likely remember Hamtaro. It is an adorable anime about an adorable hamster who enjoys life and all its adventures. He has lots of friends, he’s always making new ones along with all of the old ones!
Little Witch Academia
One of the most popular anime series in recent years, Little Witch Academia has captivated audiences worldwide with its fantasy theme and creative magic spells. The show’s protagonist Akko wants to be just like her idol but lacks the power needed. She enrolls in a witch school and gets accepted despite not having any magic powers yet! Along the way, she meets Lotte and Sucy, two natural-born witches, who become her lifelong friends.
